1. The Screen on the Green

Opened in 1913, this single screen cinema is one of the longest continuously-running theatres in the country. Facing the famous Islington Green, Screen on the Green is one of the area’s most well-loved landmarks. For nuptials to rival a Hollywood feature film, why not take advantage of the building’s 125-capacity screening room, which includes a dramatic stage area and built-in bar? Private hire rates consist of base hire, plus a minimum spend on food and drink.

2. HMS President

One of the last surviving First World War Royal Navy warships, this vessel is two years short of its centenary, and is permanently moored along the Thames. Having your special day at this unique riverside venue would produce memorable photos, with a backdrop overlooking some of the City’s most stunning sights including St Paul’s, the National Theatre and the London Eye. Packages start from £87.50 per guest, and feature exclusive use of facilities and the venue’s events team.

3. London Canal Museum

Continuing with maritime-themed nuptials, this museum was originally used as an ice warehouse and still features its antique ice well. The venue is perfect for eco-conscious lovers, as organisers request that their guests comply with recycling requirements, and also make use of Fairtrade ingredients where possible. Guests can also be provided with their own mooring so they can arrive in style by boat, in keeping with the decor of the museum. Minimum deposit is required for all bookings.

4. Islington Metalworks

With fully-operational machinery ninety years after its opening, the Islington Metalworks has undergone restoration work and now holds a variety of events – including weddings. Featuring three bars, one of which is in the outside courtyard, a dancefloor and even an indoor barbeque facility, this venue has something for every bride and groom. The venue also has a high quality sound system and catering for up to 500 guests; price is available on request.

5. The Banking Hall

For a luxurious ceremony, The Banking Hall is the perfect alternative venue. Situated metres from the world-famous Bank of England, the 135,000 square foot hall offers Art Deco design and exquisite marble columns, combined with an experienced catering and events team. With a budget situated at the higher end of our list, all-inclusive packages start from £20,000 and are designed to take the stress out of your wedding day.
